The AOCS Foundation is a federally tax-exempt not-for-profit charitable corporation established in 1986 and governed by an independent board of directors that includes representatives from AOCS.  The AOCS Foundation has raised nearly $2 million dollars to support initiatives critical to the advancement of AOCS.

The AOCS Foundation raises and administers funds to support professionals interested in the science and technology of oils, fats, surfactants, and related materials through AOCS.  It is the Foundation’s intent that this support will advance the AOCS Mission

The Foundation was formed over 20 years ago with the original goal of funding the Technical Director Staff position at AOCS Headquarters.  The Technical Director would establish a process in which the Official Methods and Recommended Practices of the AOCS are reviewed, revised, and proposed. 

• In 2004 the Campaign for Technology began and went on to raise over $300,000 to support the development or improvement of AOCS electronic products and services.
• Raised nearly $700,000 during two separate building campaigns to provide AOCS with modern facilities to support the ever expanding, diverse needs of members. 
• Raised more $300,000 to fully endow the Thomas H. Smouse Memorial Fellowship.
